Thanks, Kate.

Hi Peter - thanks for your example. And yes, I slipped that sentence in to show collaborative writing with blogs (not so subtle!)

Hi Antonella and Tania - thanks for the update on Google Wave. Can't wait to try it out.

Hi Meena,

You make some fantastic points about the benefits of writing collaboratively online. Have you ever tried Microsoft Office Live Workspace? Since it syncs with the Microsoft Suite of programs, you can have "the formatting power of Word or PowerPoint, or the computing power of Excel," which can be a huge plus. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Best,
Kate

Here's a Complete (so they say) Guide on Google Wave from Mashable http://mashable.com/2009/05/28/google-wave-guide/

A development framework for now, but it already shows how it'll fit nicely in the digital workplace

Very Nice Meena,

Your last sentence also suggests that blogs are a way to collaboratively write - or publish anyway - but maybe something a bit different.

Euforic uses wiki's extensively as a way for the distributed team to collectively track, co-edit and share project proposals, reports, etc. Also as a co-written 'to do' space and repository of essential information on social media accounts, logins etc.

Also very interesting: The IDS 2008 annual report (http://www.ids.ac.uk/go/about-ids/annual-report) was co-written on a wiki (http://idsannualreport2007-08.pbworks.com/).

Cheers

Peter

Meena, lovely of you, but there's another person to be acknowledged. All I learned about the Google Apps I owe it to Tania, who's been the first real explorer of Google Apps in our group.

It'd be interesting to hear other people's experience: how are they using collaborative writing tools? what are the scenarios in which they work best? how do they streamline the content creation, contribution and final formatting? tips and tricks to share?
