Dear Colleagues,
Collaborate,
Create, Communicate..
Happy
New Year to you all!
2005
has been a year of real advances for the ICT-KM Program,
from the good progress made in the implementation of the
projects in the 2004 Investment Plan, to the successful
launch of CGXchange and all its components at the
AGM 2005. In addition, we also saw continuing
collaborative activities with the IT Managers and
Information Managers, significant financial savings from
system-wide purchases, and strengthened communities of
practice. An annual report is available on the
ictkm.cgiar.org site at http://ictkm.cgiar.org/html/document.html.
2006
and Beyond
The
most important objective at this point is to ensure that
the Program continues to be relevant and consistent with
our mandate and vision.
While
2006 will be a year of consolidation for many of the
activities that we started last year, there are many
areas we will start afresh: from expanding the
membership and mandate of our advisory group, to
continuing to extend our reach to the partners, to
advocating the work of our projects, to getting ready
for a whole set of new activities in 2007..
While
launching and guiding such an ambitious and
geographically dispersed initiative has not been without
its challenges, we believe the significant progress made
to date provides a solid foundation for our future
plans. This progress is the result of the hard work of
many individuals - CGIAR Management, the Advisory
Group, Project Coordinators and project teams. We thank
those who have invested so much energy into making our
vision a reality. A 2006 Plan is available on our
website at http://ictkm.cgiar.org/html/document.html.
ICT-KM 2004 Investment Plan
Updates
The ICT-KM
2004 Investment Plan, which was launched in April 2004,
has shown real progress in 2005. In 2006, the Program
aims to ensure that the third year of
implementation of the Investment Plan continues to show
good progress while a number of projects will come to
closure.

ICT-KM
2006 Investment Plan
The ICT-KM 2006 Investment Plan
proposes work in two areas: providing further support to
consolidate the gains to date of activities started
under the first plan; and extend its focus beyond the
CGIAR Centers' infrastructure to improving broader
access to scientific data.

Active Directory deployment and Exchange 2003 Upgrade Project
All the
15 CGIAR Centers have successfully migrated to Microsoft
Active Directory and upgraded to Exchange 2003.
This marks the successful end of our upgrade project.
Upcoming
Events
The
Enterprise Security and Business Continuity Second
Regional Workshop and the launch of CGXchange at ILRI
and ICRAF coming
