Welcome to
our website.
If we grow a tree in our laboratories,
will the poor eat its fruit some day? The mandate
of the CGIAR Centers is to mobilize agricultural
science to reduce poverty, foster human well-being,
promote agricultural growth and protect the environment.
But the journey from the laboratory
to real-world benefits is a long and winding road.
Often, committed and talented people simply lack
the technologies and techniques to communicate,
collaborate effectively and create solutions.
The ICT-KM Program of the CGIAR
is dedicated to mobilizing the people, technology
and knowledge available to overcome these barriers.
We have a vision of a CGIAR without boundaries.
Through a series of innovative activities and
projects that expand opportunities to work closely
together and communicate, scientists can produce
better science and get the results where they
are most needed.
We are at an exciting point
in the implementation of our ICT-KM Program as
the 2004 Investment
Plan projects are all well underway. Please
read about them and our recent
highlights.
I also invite you to read our
Behind the Scenes
section, where you will meet the people who are
working very hard to make our vision of a CGIAR
without boundaries a reality.
If you would like to know more
about the Program or join us in our efforts to
improve international agricultural research on
behalf of the world's poor, write to us.
Yours sincerely,
Enrica Porcari
