Collaborate,
Create, Communicate...
One
of the bright spots of this month was the successful
launch of CGXchange at IPGRI,
Rome
. Staff who attended were in for a surprise when the
Center’s Director General, Emile Frison, kicked off
the occasion by making a unique entrance.
Dario
Valori, IPGRI’s IT Manager and the coordinator of the
CGXchange Project, kept the momentum going by taking the
CGXchange road show to Mexico, where the System-wide
intranet/extranet was launched at CIMMYT.
Still
on the subject of CGXchange, three Centers have adopted
the technology behind the platform (Aqualogic) to
redesign their respective Internet and intranet sites.
Our
2006 Annual Report, which comprises the results of a
three-pronged analysis, is now complete. In other news,
a new CGNET contract will benefit everyone in the CGIAR.
Elsewhere,
our “Knowledge Sharing in Agricultural Research”
workshop held in
Nairobi
,
Kenya
was a huge success. This interactive event saw
participants taking part in a fair, a “chat show”,
and a world café session, among other activities. Look
out for next month’s edition of ICT-KM News for a full
report.

this issue of ICT-KM News:
CGXchange
Launched at IPGRI
An
enthusiastic line of dancers, led by Director General
Emile Frison, snaked its way into the packed auditorium,
taking the audience by surprise. If anyone present had
anticipated that the launch of CGXchange at IPGRI on 16
May 2006 would be a series of dry speeches strung
together, they were probably having a serious rethink at
that moment.

Centers Adopt Aqualogic, Formerly Known as Plumtree
CIAT,
IWMI and the
WorldFish
Center
have recently adopted the Aqualogic/BEA portal platform
(the technology behind CGXchange) to redesign their
intranet and Internet sites. Other Centers are set to
make the move soon.

New CGNET
Contract
The ICT-KM
Program and members of the IT community recently
negotiated a new one-year contract with CGNET valid
until
30 April 2007.

Learning,
Adjusting and Moving Forward– a Three-Pronged Analysis
The
future success of the ICT-KM Program depends on, among
other factors, the continuing use of an effective system
for capturing the achievements and learning from the
Program’s various activities. By constantly striving
to improve through regular review and analysis of
activities and results, the Program hopes to stay
relevant and serve the expectations of its partners,
stakeholders and investors.
