The month of October has been
extremely eventful with the preparation for the CGIAR
Annual General Meeting 2005.
The ICT-KM Program activities
will feature in a number of events at the AGM: from the
launch of cgXchange at Centers’ and Members Day on
Monday 5th December, to a lunch session on Knowledge
Sharing in Research on Monday 5th December, to scheduled
tours of cgXchange during coffee breaks and luncheons at
the System Office Booth on Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th
December. In addition, the Program is jointly organizing
the CGIAR Women’s Networking Event with the CGIAR
Gender & Diversity Program on 4th December.
Report of ICT-KM activities for
2005 will be presented to the Center Deputy Director
Generals Committee (CDDC) prior to the AGM 2005.

Scheduled Access Grid Conference
In October 2005 IRRI scientists Dr.
Graham McLaren and Dr Richard Bruskiewich and IT Head,
Paul O'Nolan, participated in IRRI's first scheduled
Access Grid-based video conference.

The Enterprise Security and
Business Continuity Project holds Regional Workshops at
IRRI from 8 to 18 November on business continuity
planning (BCP) and on CGIAR IT security.

New Partnership with Microsoft and
NASSCOM Foundation
ICRISAT in collaboration with the
Microsoft Corporation and NASSCOM Foundation jointly
launched the networking of the VASAT Hub for
South Asia
- Adakkal into a Rural Knowledge Centre (RKC), under the
Microsoft’s Unlimited Potential (UP) Program, better
known as Project ‘Jyoti’, on 30 September.

Utilization of Intelligent Systems for
Plant Protection Workshop 25-26 October
A workshop was organized at the
Central Laboratory for Agricultural Expert Systems,
Agricultural Research Center, Cairo, Egypt as part of
the Utilization of Intelligent Systems for Plant
Protection Project from 25-26 October 2005.

Active Directory deployment and Exchange 2003 Upgrade Project
All the
15 CGIAR Centers have successfully migrated to Microsoft
Active Directory and upgraded to Exchange 2003.
