History

Concluded in  2008 under the 2006 Investment Plan: Digital Content for Learning Project

The Online Learning Resources project was established to make CGIAR learning resources (being global public goods) more easily accessible to all intended users following internationally recognized standards and procedures. The project also planned to create a CGIAR training community of practice that could work closely together for the benefit of an international learning community interested in agriculture and natural resources management.

In 2005, the project changed directions from a ‘stand-alone’ knowledge pool to a Learning Object Repository using internationally recognized standards that allow exchanges with other learning objects referatories and repositories. The CGIAR LOM Core Application Profile was successfully implemented into the CGIAR Learning Objects Repository, thus creating something of value and relevance to a community of trainers and educators in agriculture and natural resources management – 560 training resources from 11 CGIAR Centers were uploaded.  The majority of the community provided support from their own Center for a representative to attend the Leuven Implementation Workshop in October, 2005.
