The Web Content and Usage Analysis endeavor, a sub-activity of the Virtual Resources Center activity (later branded as CGXchange) was established to determine which dissemination methods, information resources and services users find most appropriate and useful through the CGXchange and other CGIAR web-based information services. The activity also aimed to contribute directly to the monitoring and evaluation of the C4D Thrust as a whole.
This activity had three components:
1. Initial content selection and collation for CGXchange;
2. Marketing of CGXchange; and
3. Evaluation, which involved three outputs:
Components 1 and 2 were completed in time for the launch of CGXchange in December 2005. Components 3a and 3b were also completed. The guide for evaluating CGXchange was provided to the ICT-KM office and the manager of CGXchange, while the guide for evaluating web-based products was ormally published, and printed copies distributed at the AGM in December 2007 and to CGIAR Centres.
Component 3c, the evaluation of CGXchange, was not undertaken in detail. The recruitment of a CGXchange manager was underway at the time, and the position needed to clarify the focus of CGXchange and direct the evaluation to be undertaken. The manager was not recruited until August 2007 and priority for the manager was given to the development of EasyMTP and not CGXchange.
