Thomas Zschocke was the Head of the Training Department at the International Potato Center (CIP) in Lima, Peru, from 2003-2007.

Just recently he accepted the position of Academic Officer Education at the Institute for Environment and Human Safety of the United Nations University (UNU-EHS) in Bonn, Germany. In this new capacity Thomas will continue to co-coordinate the OLR project and help the UNU-EHS become an active partner in this activity.

Thomas holds a doctoral degree in education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA, and advanced degrees in oriental studies and social pedagogy / social work from Germany.

Besides his assignments to engage in capacity building activities mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa during his tenure at CIP, Thomas brings to the project many years of professional experience as an adult educator in Indonesia and Germany as well as an instructional designer for e-learning and Web-based instruction in higher education in the USA.
